Love / John Lennon
I'm scared.

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?=

PSP Review

Mon Oct 5, 2009, 4:18 PM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: Tapped out music in my head
  • Reading: Odd Thomas
  • Watching: PSP downloading Dissidia demo
  • Playing: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
  • Eating: Brocolli Cheddar soup (actually, it's delicious!)
  • Drinking: Coke (As always, DUH!)
I am immensly satisfied.

For once, Sony has Nintendo beat. Not only are the graphics great, it fits in my hand better, has a brighter screen, has a better download service (PlayStation Network), has better old games for download (FFVII, FFTactics, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil: Director's Cut? SOLD!)controls better, LOOKS better, is better.

Now, the DSi still has the PSP beat on a few points. First of all, the PSP steals the power switch from the DS Lite. DSi has a button, much more accesible and easy. Two, the DSi has MUCH better internet. Granted, the PSP has flash and can download files, but the DSi loads faster, looks better, and controls better. I can't say much about game selection, this is one area they are perfectly matched. I also think Nintendo's contiued reliance on game cards is a better idea than UMD. Granted, UMDs play movies and allow for better graphics, but having to have a memory card is just a PAIN. The memory card also allows for demos that can be deleted, trailer downloads, wallpapers and themes, so it can be excused too.

All in all, the three things Nintendo does better Sony makes up for. I hate to say it, but the PSP is my choice handheld.

Yeah, um...

I suppose it's kinda obvious that the MyWorld thing fell through. I was working on it, and it was going great, about halfway, but... well, *ahem* personal issues got in the way.

I always rotate between feeling okay and feeling positively emo, and it's really painful. I want to do comics, but I think I'm abandoning the MyWorld style, both past and present, unless it's for comedic effect.

I also really want to do video game reviews, but I don't want to show myself on camera, and video capture is a problem without a capture card, and I'm currently saving up for a PSP. I might do some reviews/Let's Plays on some old games, like Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth, Dracula: Origin, Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper, SWAT 4, and Sims 2 & 3, as well as the original if I can get it running. I'll review Final Fantasy PS1 games if I can get my emulator to work (don't worry, I own them, and I'm just running them off the disk on my computer!) as well as the GBA ones. But that's for later. Anyways, sorry for ranting.

Editsies! I got an emulator to work! Except... I realized I have zero motivation to replay FFVII, VIII, or IX on a computer screen. I might, it just might take a while. A Let's Play might not be too bad, because I could play it and record at my own pace. The Dawn of Souls release of FFI would be less tiresome, believe it or not, but then there's getting other people away so that I can record my talking. I'd like to doa Let's Play of Dracula: Origin first, though, that would be much more fun! I have an idea for a five second movie, even, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in 5 Seconds. I'm actually about to record that, I believe. I'll be switching to blip.tv for my longer videos, so that if people watch it, I get money! Yay, money! PSP, here I come! SHVSJTR would be fun to do as well, but Dracula first. Anyway, off to Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy!

Edit 2: I am getting a PSP TOMORROW. Story being: looking up reviews, the PSP 1000 feels better in your hands than the PSP 3000 that comes with Dissidia. Dissidia and FF7:AC come in paper sleeves instead of cases, and I already have it on DVD anyway. The memory cards are around five dollars. Dissidia is fourty. A used PSP 1000 costs $100 at Gamestop. Full price: $145. Price of Dissidia bundle? $200. So I'm actually saving money. And the PSP 1000 can do everything the 3000 can do, so there really is no difference besides size, nd I'd rather have a sturdy 2-pound system that fits in my hand than a drop-it-a-foot-and-it-shatters half pound thing that makes my hands cramped and sweaty. Tomorrow I will have $100, and my dad will pay for the memory card. PSP tomorrow!
